A hobby or a passion

đź’ˇ What does it mean to “have a hobby”?

The other day I was talking with someone who praised me for having a hobby and being so passionate about it. Yes, Haidong Gumdo, The Way of the Sword from the East Sea.

This person was telling me not everybody has hobbies. Let alone pursue them to that extent. Meaning…. constantly learning while teaching it to others or traveling across the world to improve and study from the best. Yes, I’m that crazy passionate.

Certainly, I have always have been really passionate about the things I do. Back when I was training Taekwon-Do I was all in. Same thing when I was learning to play the guitar, I had a band before I even went to my first lesson. All in. Now that I think about it, it was probably the martial arts who taught me “if you’re doing something, give your best”. No half-assed jobs.

Are there any downsides to being passionate about the things you do?
