I haven’t met many visually impaired people in my lifetime. Those who I have met, they were amazing human beings.
The other day I was commuting back home from teaching my class and a woman, accompanied by a guide dog, was navigating her way on the subway. She made it look easy.
I felt nothing but respect, I’ve always had. Not pity but respect for having mastered skills some of us don’t imagine ourselves doing.
Those of us with a good pair of eyes should sometimes think about it and perhaps be a little more grateful for what we have.

It is to admire how they face their difficulty, and above all in a hostile environment such as public transport.
Agreed. I think it’s already hard enough to navigate if you can see every single sign.
